Interior visit: Aegidium – Sun 3 September 2023 – 10:30am
Sun 3 Sep 2023 • 10:30 - 11:30
€12,00When you find yourself on the lively front square of Sint-Gillis, it’s hard to imagine that a real gem is hiding behind the façades. The former Aegidium cinema, built in 1906, is not only an example of the many Brussels neighbourhood cinemas that have had to close their doors over the past century, it is also of priceless architectural value. The Moorish hall is the work of Guillaume Segers. Originally called ‘Egidium’, the building was renamed ‘Diamant Palace’ and ‘Aegidium in 1913.
The building has been vacant since 1985. There will be a thorough renovation, the start date of which is not yet known but which should be soon…. in short, a new lease of life!
Guide: Thomas Pevernagie
