Interior visit: former “La Royale Belge” – MIX

Sun 18 Feb • 11:30 - 13:00

14€

René Stapels and Pierre Dufau – 1965-1970
Renovation: Caruso St John, Bovenbouw, DDS+

In April, the Brussels Biennale of Modern Architecture took place. We would like to introduce you to modernist heritage at other moments as well… This time, we explore the former “La Royale Belge”.

The perfectly cross-shaped building in Corten steel with a fully glazed base gives the impression that the structure floats on the water. The architects designed a building in close relationship to its surrounding landscape. The iconic office building was renovated by Caruso St John Architects, Bovenbouw Architectuur, in collaboration with DDS+.
A large part of the building was renamed MIX and totally lives up to its new name! You will find a four-star hotel with 140 rooms and 40 studios, a large gym and wellness with 2 swimming pools, a co-working space, 3 restaurants and meeting and event rooms.
The interior design was entrusted to L’Atelier Lionel Jadot. Jadot engaged no fewer than 52 other designers for this project. He worked together with many designers working at Zaventem Ateliers and invited other Belgian and international designers to create an inspiring whole.
In this way, this iconic building was given a new life…worth discovering!
